Humans of Santa Clara: Gigi Esposito ’26

“Studying bioengineering in Silicon Valley was the main draw for me—the engineering school here is really good—and I know there will be opportunities for internships. I’d like to work in technology that focuses on women’s health; I hope to learn more about that. Another reason I wanted to come to Santa Clara was because my middle sister, Alexa Esposito ’24, goes to school here, although she’s studying abroad right now. She’s been having a great experience here, so I thought I’d have a positive experience as well. But she never got to live in a dorm because of COVID. At my Catholic high school in New Milford, Conn., we had a lot of community service opportunities, like different food and clothing drives, and packing lunches for the shelters. I want to get involved in some kind of community service at Santa Clara, too. I like the fact that Jesuit schools focus not just on the care of others, but also self-care, and spirituality. Other interests? I like to dance, all styles, and maybe I’ll join a dance program here. I taught dance over the years to little girls and it was fun to share my passion with younger people. I think it’s great that Santa Clara has a female president. I was president of an all-women’s club at my high school, and it was really empowering. Some college-age women might be less outgoing or less confident in themselves, so having a role model like President Sullivan at Santa Clara is just very encouraging. I went to listen to her welcome address today. She’s&²Ô²ú²õ±è;inspiring.â€
